When i first arrived at Georgia State I did not have a Facebook. I felt like some of the doubters in the article. I did not want to be totally consumed with the site. My R.A. in the University Lofts said I should get a Facebook so that she could keep in touch with me but I still was not intrigued with the site. My roommates eventually talked me into it. Since I am a person that has a Facebook I can testify to how great the site actually is. It allows you to stay in touch with people that you do not always get to see. The author of this article establishes a credible argument when he compared the site to cell phones. Cell phones have not always been popular but eventually everyone has one. If a person was to admit now, in this day and age, that that they do not have a cell phone that will b made to feel like an outcast. I can speak for myself that when I leave my cell phone at home I feel naked as if I'm missing something. Facebook has not always been a popular site just like Myspace. But now just like cell phones one will b made to feel out of place if they admit that they do not have one.
The article provides a good argument when it talks about how people can see what is posted on your wall before you do. Facebook is not private like Myspace, this is where I find the flaw. Yeah you can erase it but that does not change the fact that people can post anything on your wall and you not know it until you log in. If this problem was fixed I would like Facebook a lot better.
